Confederation and cantons launch a National Dementia Platform

The National Dementia Strategy 2014-2019 will be transferred into a platform. This was decided by the "Dialogue on National Health Policy" of the Confederation and cantons at its meeting in October 2019. The National Dementia Strategy aims to improve the Quality of life of people with Dementia and their relatives. It expired at the end of 2019 and provided the various players with an important, pioneering framework for their activities. A total of 18 projects were launched, such as quality standards for diagnostics, Awareness measures for the general population, a dementia box for inpatient long-term care or the medical-ethical guidelines for the care and treatment of people with dementia. Many cantons have now developed their own dementia strategy.

In order to achieve a sustainable impact of the launched projects, a platform will be created from 2020. This platform will facilitate the exchange of expertise between the national players and the cantonal authorities and municipalities, the joint development of Measures as well as their anchoring in practice. The various activities in the field of dementia are thus coordinated and visible to all.
