The new leaflet Association of Cantonal Fire Insurers (VKF) specifies when, how and to what extent fire protection plans, escape and rescue route plans and fire department plans must be drawn up. The supplementary explanations regulate the requirements, necessities and areas of validity for two main building categories. The new leaflet is aimed at architects, engineers and planners as well as building owners. It includes detailed example plans and CAD tools.

Cantonal differences are a thing of the past

Until today, cantonal differences existed for the respective fire protection authorities, especially with regard to fire protection and fire department plans. For example, an architect's office working in several cantons had to consider differently structured plan templates across cantonal borders. From now on, architects and specialist planners can rely on a uniform basis throughout Switzerland.

Size and fire risk are the decisive factors

The scope and type of fire protection and fire fighting plans depend on the size, complexity and fire risk of the respective building. Most buildings are based on the specifications of the category "simple fire protection plans". In contrast, the category "detailed fire protection plans" requires additional information. At the request of the fire protection authorities, fire protection concepts must be drawn up for larger buildings. These are based on quality assurance, which became more important with the introduction of the fire protection regulations in 2015. The new fire protection leaflet provides owners and users with the necessary basis for presenting the defined fire protection measures. The sample plans and CAD aids are provided exclusively digitally on www.praever.ch published.
