Emergency aid days 2018: First aiders practice with professionals
On 25 May and 8 June 2018, an emergency aid training course for first aiders with the participation of professional rescue organizations will take place at the Higher Technical College for Rescue Professions HFRB of Schutz & Rettung Zürich. The highlight of the event will be a staged major incident: with rescue units from the Effretikon fire department, the Zurich cantonal police, HFRB trainees and Rega, the cooperation between laypersons and professionals will be practised.
Around 70 members each of Company medical services and otherwise committed lay rescuers meet at this year's SanArena rescue school emergency days for a practical first-aid training on the premises of the Higher Technical School for Rescue Professions in Zurich Glattpark. During this event, participants will update their skills in more than ten different emergency situations in order to be prepared for emergencies.
Action competence means acting quickly and correctly
Cardiac emergency with use of the defibrillator, rescue from the vehicle, first aid for various injuries, dealing with threatening emergencies in the home environment: Participants deal with these and other topics at this event. Based on various scenarios, the individual posts are run through in small groups. The aim of these workshops is to provide realistic practice for effective emergency response. Realistic case studies are at the center of the exercises and serve as a basis for the sustainability of the training.
The training center of Schutz & Rettung Zürich offers attractive conditions for this with its excellent infrastructure including outdoor facilities. The SanArena Rescue School organizes this event together with the local HFRB, the Effretikon Fire Department, the Zurich Cantonal Police and the Rega. They will all actively participate in the major event from 16.00. The initial situation is a strong smoke development in a building, whereby the people present there suffer injuries of various degrees of severity. As a result, laymen and professionals can demonstrate their skills.
Without trained first aiders, there is no operational occupational safety
For medical Emergencies and Accidents mostly uninvolved passers-by, work colleagues or family members are first on the scene. Professional rescue organizations usually arrive at the scene of an emergency about 15 minutes after the alarm is raised. First responders have the task of using this quarter of an hour as effectively as possible. Appropriate aid measures in the first minutes after the emergency event favor the later healing process of a patient or even avert life-threatening situations. Regular practical exercises are therefore important in order to be able to react correctly in an emergency. The SanArena Rescue School conducts these training sessions outside of its regular course offerings so that trained first responders can also practice working effectively with professional rescuers.
The training of persons in the company first-aid service is, among other things, part of the emergency concept as part of the EKAS guidelines and the Labor Code regulations. The topics of the individual workshops reflect common emergency situations in which properly made Immediate measures Averting the worst. The major event in the afternoon places high demands on the self-organization of the first responders at the accident site. From the alerting to the preparation of the transport readiness of the "patients", work is done close to reality.
