Manufacturers and/or distributors of machines are legally obliged in Switzerland as well as in the EU countries to comply with the basic safety and health protection requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The EC declaration of conformity confirms that the machine or system has been designed and built in accordance with the state of the art and thus complies with the fundamental safety and health protection requirements of the aforementioned directive. By the way: Even as an operator of machinery, legal obligations must be fulfilled.

The Seminar from 30 October 2019 in Olten shows the essential differences between manufacturer and operator of machinery. The participants learn the legal basis and obligations as manufacturers and / or distributors of machinery. They will learn which documents they have to prepare in the conformity assessment procedure according to the requirements of the Machinery Directive in order to place a machine or partly completed machinery on the market in conformity with the law. Furthermore, some harmonized standards are presented, among others EN ISO 12100:2010, which defines the basic methodology for risk assessment in order to design safe machinery. In addition to the EC Declaration of Conformity, the customer must also be supplied with an instruction manual for the machine. Seminar participants will learn which legal minimum requirements apply to such instructions and which recommended standards can be consulted.
