Yesterday, thick door leaves, lockable window handles and steel-hard safe walls defined the standard. Today, this is no longer enough, because in a networked world, networks and data streams must also be protected. In the future, the security plan will have to include even more strategies for protecting digital infrastructure.

However, digital protection means much more than just securing zeros and ones. Monitoring, access control and data protection are equally essential. Particularly when security technology devices are networked with each other and with the entire building technology. This makes electronic security technology an integral part of the smart building.

The better all safety-related components interoperate with each other, the higher their joint efficiency. The same applies to the networking of security technology with all other building technology installations. Interfaces, standards, planning and integration are therefore key influencing factors.

At the leading trade fair Light and Building in Frankfurt am Main, which will take place from March 8 to 13, 2020, networked security will occupy a prominent position within the top theme "Connecting," the organizers promise at the media orientation held in Zurich at the end of October. This range of topics will be highlighted at Intersec Building in Hall 9.1 as part of the trade show. This is where the relevant exhibitors will be presenting themselves and where the conference on this topic will also be held.  (pd/rs)
