Amok-safe ETH

As part of its security concept, ETH Zurich is equipping its premises with so-called amok fuses.

Today, ETH Zurich is the size of a medium-sized city. This and the openness of the institute mean that violence must also be expected on the university campus: the risk of a rampage also exists here, emphasize those responsible.

For this reason, ETH Zurich cannot do without technical security systems. The institute therefore wants to equip its lecture halls at its locations in the center of the city and on the Hönggerberg campus with so-called amok fuses. They are part of a security concept. Public ETH rooms with more than nine seats are therefore to be equipped with such special locks. According to Katherine Timmel Zamboni, Safety, Health and Environment staff at ETH Zurich, this project should be completed by the end of 2016.
