Handover at TUS: Ulrich Urfer is succeeded by Thomas Jossen

Ulrich Urfer played a key role in shaping TUS for 34 years. He has been enjoying his retirement since December 1, 2023. Thomas Jossen, his dedicated successor, will take over as Head of Business Development and Projects.

Ulrich Urfer started his career at TUS in 1989. "TUS was a completely different company back then than it is today," he says with a grin. "We managed PTT services for the installation companies." Technical expertise soon became at least as important as commercial expertise. "We set up our own engineering team to provide our customers with the best possible support for technology changes."

Digitize and listen to customers

Today, TUS operates a comprehensive and modern alarm transmission system. Ulrich Urfer has played a major role in this success story. He presented the first ideas for a digital notification platform back in 2004. "Unfortunately, the time was not yet ripe for it. But I didn't let go. I have always been fascinated by digitalization and I had the privilege of driving it forward at TUS," notes Ulrich Urfer. For example with AIN, today's automatic intelligent notification platform, the development of which finally began seven years ago.

His professional heart also beat for the cultural change at TUS from an "administrator" to a customer-oriented company: "Listening carefully to what our customers need in order to offer them tailor-made solutions and services is extremely satisfying. I have also always appreciated the fact that our two parent companies give us a lot of entrepreneurial freedom - this leads to an extremely high level of employee loyalty to TUS."

Happy moments when sparks fly in the teams

Over the years, Ulrich Urfer has held various positions at TUS and its sister company Certas: as project manager, head of project management, marketing manager, director, member of the executive board and tireless innovator. He also succeeded in merging the former Cerberus and Securitas alarm centers to form Certas. There is something that makes him particularly happy, he emphasizes: "I had an enthusiastic team around me in all functions. And it fills me with pride that employees whom I have encouraged now hold management positions in the group." One of them is Thomas Jossen, his successor as Head of Business Development and Projects. He praises Ulrich Urfer's achievements: "Thanks to him, TUS has repeatedly set new standards in the industry. In my new role, I want to ensure that this remains the case." Thomas Jossen has also been a member of the TUS Executive Board since November 1, 2023.

Smooth transition with the logical successor

What advice does Ulrich Urfer give his successor? "None at all! Thomas has already grown into his role very well. And in some areas he has more strengths than I do, such as IT or his network of contacts. I can say goodbye to TUS with a clear conscience: The entire team is better positioned than ever before - and fit for all challenges."
