Liability in the event of interference with third-party networks
Electronic security technologies such as intrusion detection systems, video surveillance, etc. are often based on digital modules. They can therefore be linked to each other via network connections. However, this entails risks.
The operators of the security systems usually have an existing network for their EDP applications. Therefore, it is often desired that the new security technology to be installed can be operated via the already available network. This is not least in order to avoid the costs of laying new cables. However, this requirement entails risks for planners and installers, as the BHE Bundesverband Sicherheitstechnik writes.
Liability risks
Therefore, in the new paper "Liability risks when integrating security technology into customers' own networks", the BHE expert committee video informs about the risks of a necessary intervention into the existing, customers' own network and gives tips on how to avoid liability. The details listed would apply in principle to all electronic security technologies, according to the BHE.
In addition, with regard to liability and corresponding possibilities of liability limitation, a BHE sample template "Notice of Concern and Declaration of Assumption of Costs" was created, which can be used by the installers and individually adapted to the respective concrete circumstances, as it is finally stated in the press release.
