Recently, the first meeting of the Fire Extinguishing Section was held. The further development of Euralarm to the field of firefighting means strengthening the position of the fire protection, fire alarm and security industry as a whole when interacting with European bodies and reflects the consolidation of these activities in the industry and among the members of Euralarm.

More hearing from EU institutions

"The biggest opportunity of bringing together firefighting, extinguishing and fire detection at Euralarm is to strengthen our voice in the dialogue with EU institutions as we represent the entire fire protection industry," says Dominique Taudin, Senior Director, Codes & Standards, United Technologies (UTC).

With this unified representation of the fire protection, fire detection and security industry in Europe, we are also responding to new challenges: from the revision of the EU Construction Products Regulation to new developments in European laws and standards, as well as new technological developments that affect all segments of the industry.

The establishment of the new section, which took place at the end of 2017, is receiving broad support from the fire protection industry, writes Euralarm. This was demonstrated by the active participation of CEOs, senior representatives of leading companies and influential associations from individual European countries at the first meeting of the new section.

First five members

At the March event, the first five members of the new section were formally recognized. These are the SikkerhedsBranchen association from Denmark, the UK Fire Industry Association (FIA) and the Swiss Safety Equipment Installers Association (SES), as well as the companies Siemens and Johnson Controls International/Tyco.

"Euralarm's expertise in the field of standardization offers enormous benefits to the entire firefighting industry," explains Gerd Hülsen, Head Global Application Engineering at Siemens and Siemens' representative in the Firefighting Section. "The development of European application guidelines affects the entire industry and the firefighting and fire detection sectors, but probably also the security sector together," adds Michael Scharnowsky, Business Development International Alarm & Security Systems Division, Swiss Securitas Group.

According to Euralarm, the opening of the new section will have a positive impact on the overall strategy of the fire protection sector at the European level. Industry representatives strongly advocated prioritizing Euralarm's strategy on strengthening the protection and safety of European citizens.

"Euralarm's new Fire Fighting Section should bring significant benefits to this sector of our industry very soon. Industry representatives should join Euralarm's Fire Fighting Section sooner rather than later if they want to influence the future of this sector and the industry as a whole," said Euralarm President Enzo Peduzzi.
